Resting on a Thunder Cloud — Alcova — Miami 2025

During Miami Art Week, December 2–7, 2025, AFS.DSGN made its Miami debut at Alcova, hosted in a strikingly curated room by Room-File at the Miami River Inn.

The exhibition, Resting on a Thunder Cloud, offered a bold, immersive exploration of turbulence and refuge. Soft materials and sculptural forms were paired with a rich, sultry color palette, layered visual narratives, and hand-painted motifs that drew viewers into a space where chaos and serenity coexist. The show proposed that storms (both literal and metaphorical) can be spaces of retreat, renewal, and even inspiration.

Key works included the Bubble Chair, with a yellow leather sling sourced from Horween Leather Company in Chicago and meticulously hand-cut and sewn locally, and the Orb Lamp, with its chrome glaze reflecting and amplifying the room’s shifting light and shadow, grounded by a striking red cord.

Resting on a Thunder Cloud positioned AFS.DSGN as a compelling new voice within Miami’s dynamic design landscape.
